A Swap I'm In

I signed up for a swap at ISC!!! This is exciting because I'm new to swapping. I told myself "no swaps this summer, you are too busy"......well I thought I'd try one and see how it goes. I don't see myself joining more than one at a time tho.

This swap is for an accordian card. I wanted to share my first one with you. I need to make three total for the swap. I'll be sure to share the rest as I get them done. Be warned......I didn't take much care in "posing" this card. You can see all my mess around it:)

TFL and stay tuned for more!!!

Weekly Challenge 5/24 at ISC

My good friend Lisa is challenge hostess this week. In a nutshell, the challenge is to make a "window" card. Basically a card that you can see the inside from the outside. Here is my take on the challenge. I used the Golden Oldies set from SU. The bird is from In the Garden from SU. The border punch on the curtains is Martha Stewart. I embossed the curtains with the Swiss Dots embossing folder. I dry embossed the shutters with the ScorPal then used sandpaper to make it show up a bit more. The flowers are an EK Success punch. Dust It Off!!!!

I grubbed around in my scraps and made these cards. The only new paper I had to cut into was for the bases. I also used some word stamps that were gathering dust. I rarely use the tag die cuts......dunno why..........but gee whiz, I used those too. The green and blue string has just been sitting in my fiber bin since November. The small beads have been just sitting there looking at me everytime I open that drawer. It feels good to dust this stuff off and use it. The fish and car stamps are new "Just Beachy" from SU. TFL!!

Outside My Comfort Zone

I worked outside my comfort zone on this one. I don't normally use wire in this way on my cards. TFL!

Another Vintage Card

I just had to give the vintage look one more try to see if I really liked it or not. Well, I like it!!! Here is my latest creation TFL!!!

Fun Cards

I made a couple fun cards for the Just Because occasion. The frog is from Inkadinkado and the Ladybugs is an older SU set. I really like how they turned out. TFL.

Weekly Challenge 5/17 at ISC

This week weedsgalore has challenged us to make a vintage card. I'm actually intimidated by vintage, so this was a good challenge for me. I just received this paper from Karen (blog candy). I was going to stash it away and wait for Christmas as it is a SU Christmas Scrapbook Kit, but I couldn't!!!! I received the picture (which is actually a postcard) when I won antme's "Guess What I Lost" challenge. I attempted to ink the edges and swoop the ink in to add even more of a vintage look, but considering the surface of the postcard is very glossy, it didn't work as I had intended and you can't really see it on the pic. Please use your imagination a bit for this part ;). I also ink/distressed the edges of the red paper in an attmept to make it look aged. The PP is distressed with a tool from SU. I used the new VersaMark dazzling ink on the red and on the brown on the inside of the card. There is a pic of both the outside and the inside for you to see. TFL!!

A Fun Technique

I just wanted to share something with all of you. I'm sure I'm not the first person to think of this, but I'm pretty proud of myself for actually thinking of it. Well, I recently received a SU Blender Pen from my great friend Lisa and have been having fun playing with it. I prefer to stamp my images in StazOn and color them in, so I don't have a big variety of ink pad colors. I decided to use my SU Stampin' Write markers with my Blender Pen. I "scribbled" the color of choice marker on an acrylic block and picked up the ink with the Blender Pen from that. Long story short.......this is the result. TFL!!

In the Garden

I finally got a chance to play with my new SU set "In the Garden"!!!! I had way too much fun. I had to force myself to stop. Anyway, I hope some of you are able to purchase this set for yourself. It can be used for just about any occasion. I needed some thank you cards, so that's what they are for. TFL!!

This Week's Challenge at ISC

Chris is the hostess with the mostess this week at ISC. Her challenge was to create a black and white card with a splash of color. Here is my take on the challenge. There was a chance for "extra credit" if you did something special to the inside. That part was quite new for me, but I gave it a shot. TFL!!
